Thanksgiving thoughts

It is Thanksgiving time. What are you thankful for? Just a few of my thoughts. I am thankful for the ladies and gentleman that protect and defend our nation so that we may enjoy our freedom. I am thankful for living in the GREATEST city and school district in the world! I am thankful for the citizens of League City that continue to vote for changing the way our local government has been doing business. I am thankful for those in our town that are willing to stand up and speak the truth regardless of the personal consequences. I am thankful for knowing individuals like CCISD’s Man of the year Mr. Charlie Pond. God Bless League City and all it's citizens and may you all have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Chris, since you mention "doing the right thing regardless of the consequences," isn't there a certain PS on Council who knows a terrible secret and is not coming out and speaking the truth? Didn't she tell her own children to always tell the truth and do what is right, and she is not doing it herself?

You could be correct. However it seems that every time some tells the truth in our town there are those just waiting to discredit them. (because the truth shows that they are out for themselves or protecting their friends) Believe it or not I have been subjected to such pressure. (a waste of time for both of us) We all make our own decision in life. All this will all change after the May election. If not now it will happen then. It is just a matter of time and I have plenty of that.

One last thought,
Good to see Mr. Edelman is back and blogging on a fair and unedited blog. We all knew you could not stay away. The truth is always best when it is allowed to be spoken without editing.

Its okay Chris, I was giving you sympathy blogs, but I can see you dont need them

Chris,

"The truth is always best when it is allowed to be spoken without editing."

The truth is always best served in the light of day.

Well, I'm really curious. You guys have danced all around the 'terrible secret' and no one has asked what it is! Does everyone in town know it already, except me?

What is this terrible secret, and why is she hiding it?????

Nice cool morning today !!!

Fair enough Mr. Pond. How can a person disagree with the CCISD Man of the Year?

Marc,
Thank you, glad to see you participating.

Evelyn,
I am not sure what secrets some are trying to hide all I can say is that after I suggested asking our city administrator to get information on spouse abuse and inform our citizens Mr. Edelman quit blogging and shut his blog down. (My cell phone is 281-682-8873 for more non information on the subject) The best action to take is to call your just elected council members and ask what they think of the situation.

Chris, you are a creep and your constant, unfounded innuendos and comments about Mr. Reed are deplorable.

Marc Edelman said...

I guess it is a good thinng only about 10 people read this blog.

Unknown said...

Marc, why do you get your pants on fire when someone mentions Mr. Reed? Nobody mentioned him in connection with the "secret." Does he need defending as vehemently as you are doing?

But to follow this along--PS does work in the same school as Mrs.Reed, doesn't she?

Maybe you know something,too, Marc.

I want to know why the "secret" PS knows is important. LCMONITOR thinks it needs to come out....could it be that you know the secret has something to do with Mr. Reed, which is why you are so defensive?

Marc Edelman said...

Chris, for you to bring up these unfounded innuendos under your thanksgiving thread shows your lack of character and manners.

Evelyn, there is no dirty little secret, there is just a spitball Chris launched hoping it would stick to someone. This is politics at its ultimate worst when people make things up about their opponent’s families for their own political agendas or personal gain. The only way to describe Chris Mallios’s behavior is that of a scoundrel.

Evelyn,
Fish on Friday? I suggest you avoid the bottom feeders and stick to the deeper waters. Since Ike, the quality of the local catch has become iffy at best.

Marc,
It's more than ten and less than ten thousand.

Chris,
Based on all of the available information, I think reasonable doubt has to play in to any valid conclusion. I've looked at both sides on this one and I don't see the issue walking...much less running.

You mentioned truth and editing...from my perspective editing doesn't just refer to deletion. Omission of fact in presenting an argument...especially when the topic involves an allegation of moral turpitude...is a dangerous thing.

The way that this topic has been presented also bothers me. If your "evidence" is so conclusive, why the "cat and mouse" approach to presenting it?

This city is facing a multitude of clearly defined problems that will likely worsen with the dismal economic forecasts we are faced with today. My feeling is our time and energy could be better spent looking for the solutions to those problems rather than mounting a whisper campaign aimed at breaking a political stalemate by wading through muddy waters.

It was LCMONITOR who mentioned that PS is hiding a "secret." Chris didn't initiate this, this time.

And, I don't think Chris is going to pull this blog,to prevent the truth from coming out, as someone else seems to have done.

I'm in agreement with Charles, too, though:if your "evidence" is so conclusive, why the "cat and mouse" approach to presenting it?

Smoke screen, Marc, blaming Chris. Maybe YOU should step up and tell us the "secret?"

Chris statement about spouse abuse is interesting. To follow that thought, perhaps being honest about the "secret" might prevent someone getting hurt. If PS knows a "secret", protecting someone will always backfire...if that's what this is about

Marc Edelman said...

Gosh Evelyn, seems like you ask pointed questions because you think you already know the answers. Your game stinks. Are you sure your name is not Diana Ceres? I pulled my blog because Chris was using it to spread unfounded rumors. If that is what he wants to use his blog for so be it,. The consequences of his reckless behavior are all his.

Charles, why the riddle? more than 10,< 10k??? Okay, I will bite, is it bigger than a bread box?

Marc,
I was referring to your comment about the number of people that read the blog.

I think more people read it than you might imagine, although their reasons for reading might have evolved over the past year or so.

Certainly, the numbers that are willing to post under their own name has waned, as honest, topical debate has given way to personal attacks and sensationalism, but there remains a fair number of readers that drop in out of curiosity.

Obviously you read it, Marc, and you continue to post because you, like me, find it difficult to turn a blind eye to commentary that is designed to stir controversy where no controversy exists.

I want to clarify that I do not dislike Chris Mallios. I understand what he is doing and why.

When this issue first broke, I had deep concerns. I asked questions.

I have seen the investigative conclusions that clearly stated there's no there there.

Now, people can suppose and what if all they want to...they can imagine cover ups and collusion. They can refer to the loyalties of the men in blue. They can chastise elected officials for not saying what they want to hear... but facts are facts and allegations are statements in need of facts.

If we are truly a nation and society of laws...we need to quit trying to circumvent the requirement under the law that allegations and suspicions be supported by facts in evidence.

Too much of the driving force for politics in League City is created outside of public view and with a callous disregard for what is in the best interest of the electorate. People come together (on all sides) and formulate plans that are often designed to circumvent due process and the tenets of open government for the sole purpose of executing an agenda via shortcut.

Often, ethics are compromised by expediency.

I'm one person that believes how something is done matters as much as much as what is done.I have not always felt that way, but as the various controversies have unfolded over the years, I've recognized a common denominator.

As long as inflated egos and personal political agendas continue to trump the ethical obligation to act in the best interest of the majority, we are going to struggle.

There is a lot of common ground out there, Marc, but you have to want to see it.

A nod is as good as a wink...to a blind horse.

Have a great day~~~~~

A man in Colorado is ebing prosecured for criminal libel because of something he posted anon on a blog.

All posters should be aware as the general citizenry is increasingly becoming tired of libelous statements made without facts in evidence. All it takes is the libeled person and a lawyer to make those with open mouth and wagging tongue eat their words.

The incident in Colorado:

http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/story?id=6370213&page=1

It wasn't really a blogging incident, given the type of site Craigslist happens to be. Nevertheless, it's an extreme case where criminal libel laws are being used in a case that should be a civil lawsuit. Though, I could see it being a criminal lawsuit if it had led to her having her kids taken away, or if it had resulted in some form of measurable harm...

There's also that recent MySpace Cyberbullying case...

The internet is becoming such a dangerous place. :(

Other than that... mmm.... pie... :D

charles meyer said...

Marc,

That's a fair statement.

BHL,

Obviously, the problem is not limited to those who hide and snipe.
The "us against them" and "win at any or all cost" mentality plays into this as well.

Richard,
Pie? :) There will be fudge by the weekend.

Marc,
In your business, when you are managing personnel, how much does liking an individual (on a personal level) play in to your evaluation of performance?

Do you think having a staff of "friends" is a prerequisite for success?

Should likability trump competence?
