The Jez Factor
Today’s Galveston County Daily news states “Jez has been fielding questions about the water supply because the city does not have a permanent city administrator, public works director or water superintendent.” It is now becoming apparent why the public works director took a job out of the country. But why is it that “The city could not immediately provide information late Monday about when it purchased the plant or how much has been spent trying to repair it.” Could it be that Mr. Jez forced the water superintendant, who has been with the city 25 years, to retire? Have we lost another long time city employee to the politics at city hall? Is it true that this employee had recommended voluntary water rationing weeks before the actual start date but was ignored because some in the administration were too busy planning Chris Reed’s going away party and the city employee’s party? So who pays for the problem? You got it …the Taxpayer.

I think you're giving Jez too much credit.
Public Works under Herbert was a broken organization. People got away with being unaccountable and unachieving.
Herebert's gone, new blood is going to be brought in. It's not uncommon for those in the old guard to start bailing before the new guard comes in and demands accountability.
If it were that simple I’d agree with you. Unfortunately it is not. Give me a call when you get a chance and I will fill you in.

Marc are you back from vacation? I didn't see you at the council meeting last night. It was a very good council meeting that was very productive for the citizens. If you are in town I am surprised you were not there to voice your opinion. Hope all is well and you enjoyed your vacation. Glad to see you back.
Chris, I heard your distinguishable laugh multiple times in council chambers last night. What next, now that the Dog is Dead? Are you opposed to the Farmer's Market? How about the ethics ordinance? These are all things you can nail Neil with. Which of these will you go after Neil for first? We all love a grudge match, especially when you are leading the charge.
Marc, here is a clear point where the council people could see the people's will overwhelmingly opposing the dog park and yet they simply decided that they knew better.
This is discretionary spending and the people said NO!
There were more people who voted in the various surveys than voted in any of these council person's elections. If they are that worried about the accuracy of the representation then they should step down immediately until a REAL election can be had with enough voters that Neil is confident in the outcome.

When I lived in Portland, every city and unincorporated area within Washington County had a farmer's market. Neighborhood farmers would bring their produce to whereever it was set up. Cedar Grove used the grocery store parking lot. Hillsboro blocked off a couple of street in front of the courthouse. Best cherries and cukes I ever had from those places.
Beautiful thing is, it didn't cost the cities anything (expect Hillboro who had to pay someone to block/unblock the streets - big whoop of 15 minutes).
I wonder if a LC farmer's market will get fresh produce from the farms nearby?
Seriously I know CJM can be frustrating at times, but you're simply trying to bait him by singling out Neil. It makes it look like you have no issue with how the overall process was conducted and how Neil campaigned on ethics (nothing about a dog park being a priority during the election) and then #1 motion was dog park.

There is no need for the city to spend one dime or one minute on a Farmer's Market!
Let private enterprise take over, as has been done in Portland and other communities around the country!

Mushroomed again I see. No Sir your ears or your puppet master deceive you again. I never laughed during the council meeting. I may have smiled but I doubt your bat ears could have picked that up. Had you been there you would have known. But instead you believe what you have been told. Why do you have to take an issue and try to make it a personal thing? I am not participating in a “grudge match” with anyone. But it does seem to me you are. I am not leading the charge on anything. All I did was express my opinion and you call it a grudge match? What does that say about you my friend? If you truly think this is all about Neil then you miss the whole point. I am just an average citizen who wants what is best for our entire city.
As for an ethics ordinance, well it wasn’t too high on your list when we were in the Charter review committee. According to my notes I was one of the only members that discussed it from the beginning. But that is old news my friend. While on the campaign trail someone said he would have such an ordinance done within 90 days if memory serves me correct. 400 days later we are still waiting.
It must have been the crust falling of your mustache when you smiled that I heard. The internet audio was pretty good last night.
