The field Narrows

It appears the Chris Stevens has removed his name from consideration for position 7 in the League City council race. I found this at guidrynews.com

“Thank you to family, friends and supporters of my candidacy for City Council Position 7. Your encouragement is something I will always cherish. However, after careful consideration and thorough discussion I have decided that Joanna Sharp and I can work better together seeking the same bright future for League City rather than seeking the same position on city council. With the leadership of Mayor Randall and a fiscally responsible majority on council, League City is making tremendous strides in correcting inherited problems of the past, making careful plans for the future and building up "good government".

Therefore for the good of the city and a united conservative movement, I am asking all my supporters to embrace and vote for Joanna Sharp Dawson as their next city council member. Since the deadline to officially withdraw has passed my name will still appear on the ballot but my campaign efforts have ceased. However, my support and work for 'Joanna Sharp for City Council Position 7' has just begun!

God Bless,
Chris Stevens”

Chris, I know there is a good number -- hopefully a majority -- who share your ideas about strenghtening limits on gluttonous government size, power and spending. We need people in office to carry these goals forward for us. Thanks for running.
To merge your campaign forces and supporters with Joanna's now brings a huge element of strength and focus in a single direction.
It changes the whole complexion of the race, and makes the voters' choice more of a no brainer. The other candidate may as well concede now and save his efforts for another day.
With this shoring up of our voices, I hope we will see city hall doing a better job of reaching out for and respecting our wishes before considering new projects and before throwing more money at old ones. More is not necessarily better.

From Marc's blog, "If in fact these signs were placed on these properties without authorization by business owners, what can we expect from candidates for council who get elected who do not respect property owners rights as a candidate? "

I wonder if Marc bothered to ask why the Manager hadn't removed the signs upon his/her observation, as opposed to waiting until Marc inquired.

While I agree with Marc's concern, I do not condone his methods of inquiry and reporting. Why are concerned citizens calling him as opposed to asking property owners' directly? (It sounds like a coordinated effort to discredit a candidate.) Why is Marc insinuating that the candidate is directly responsible for the actions of supporters who may be placing signs in zealous action without realizing that mangerial request is required. Did Marc bother to ask if perhaps some other authority or individual (McDs does have multiple managers) erroneously grant permission? He certainly gave no such indication.

No. Instead Marc makes assumptions and offers indictment without all the facts, and worse he is not allowing anyone to post in response to his blog. So much for freedom of speech and exchange of information and ideas.

Shame on you Mr. E. You accuse the candidate for what may be the actions of others, but refused to allow yourself to be held similarly accountable for the ramblings of PH on your blog. Instead you just ran and shut down when things got out of hand, and came out of the woodwork once again as election time drew near. Hypocracy at it's most blatent.

Disclaimer: At this time I support no candidate and have no preferences. I am concerned that one is too intertwined with TR and offers no new synergy, one is too foolish, and one may be a revenge candidate.

NEWS FLASH!!!! ME has pulled his statements regarding the posting of signs off his blog with no explanation.

Coincidentally, instead of going down the feeder this morning, I went down Hwy 3. What did I see on the McD's property but the campaign sign that ME had complained about. So what happened? I don't know. I'll leave that investigation for MR to complete seeing as he's so concerned about how campaign signs are posted. After all, a truly concerned citizen will always follow through completely.

Someone from Joanna Sharps Camp needs to let her know that the Election Is May 8th, Not May 1st as she has on her website!
