Political or not ?

This article was in today's Galveston County Daily news. What are your thoughts?

So some soccer mom supports the staff a thousand percent. That's the same kind of math the staff uses when they go spending my money on their Christmas and birthday parties. Where is the adult supervision at city hall?
(S)election day is not that far off now, and inbumbents don't have much time left to explain whose heads are gonna roll, and when. Why is my money still flowing like a river to BLM, Pat Hallisey's Holiday, special interest parks projects and other nonsense after we have clearly and loudly said "NO MORE!"?
Heads might roll on (s)election day, and they may not be the ones you expect.

I look at this way, if a political candidate is incorrectly saying things about what the city has or hasn't approved, then there are three options:
1) city approach the candidate with the facts and the candidate issues a retraction
2) the city issue a statement
3) do nothing

Option 3 amounts to burying one's head in the sand.

In this case Mr Paulissen being a member of council knows full well what the truth is and should be ashamed of his mailings. The city was proper in issuing a statement though it is argueable if the mailings were the right method of communicating (personally I don't agree with that method.)

Between the disingenuity and non-transparency of LCvotes2011 and Mr Paullisen's erroneous representation of facts, leaves little doubt that some folks have not learned their lessons from elections of past.

It keeps looking that way. Always explanations for how these things can happen, but never how they are not going to happen again.
Financing scandals grew up around BLM and Proud Pat's Holiday, calling for audits, but all we hear now is how they're going to do it again. We can't seem to get out of the red light camera contract, but for some reason we can't redirect those revenues into the general fund either. Now have you seen the new deluxe street BLM is getting? Did you hear how Pat's people themselves, plus city staff members whose exorbitant parties have some kind of spending "spirit" of their own (that manages to defy council), are now going to be on a "task force" that will tell council how to plan the next Hallisey Holiday?
It's madness.

Today's GDN, Paulissen taking money from interests who do business with the city.

but it's not developer money... so it's ok, and so is sending out misleading flyers.

The shark has been jumped.

On another note, anyone know anything about this Maldonado kid. I'm thinking he may be the best vote simply cause he ain't been around long enough to be tainted.

If you haven't read the letter from Tim Paulissen that the GDN and the Clear Lake Citizen declined to publish, it is available on the leaguecityvote2011 web site.

Tim, if you are reading this, you need to know that your campaign strategy appears to be right out of a junior high school student body election playbook.

On another note the LCV site said the following...

In observance of the Easter Holiday, your League City Watchdogs will put on hold all work on the website beginning this Friday through Easter Sunday. It is our belief that this time should be used for prayer and reflection on our God and faith.

We are very fortunate to live in the state of Texas where our Ten Commandments monument stands on our State Capitol grounds and where we can proudly say: “One Nation under God…” in our Pledge of Allegiance. This is a special time for all of us to be thankful for our religious freedom.

Our wish is that you all have a very blessed Easter.
God Bless our City and our Country

My response: Then perhaps you should be reflecting on why you delete posts that aren't favorable to your positions. You can say "God Bless" but such shenanigans aren't the way of Christ.

(I wonder how long that will stay up.) On another note, I think I may look into how much of our tax dollars KC spends on his Easter mailings. Even this Christian conservative knows thats just plain wrong.

I don't see your response there BHL. Interestingly, I posted the following in response to Mr. Paulissen's sign problem.

" Regarding the sign issue.... this ordinance has been enforced in the past. When my husband Chris ran for office three years ago, we had several friends call to tell us that signs had been removed from their yards precisely for the reason mentioned above. The signs were placed in the City right of way (the grassy area between the sidewalk and the street) and a City ordinance prohibited this. It didn't take us long to start informing people of where they could or couldn't place the signs if they wanted them to remain in their yards."

It looks like my response is no longer there. Makes me think that this "Watchdog" is really just a "Bulldog".... emphasis on the "Bull".

An update to my previous post.... I now see that the post I referred to above is back on the LCV website.
