Last night I had a discussion with a League City resident that said nothing had been put on the blog regarding the newspaper that was delivered all over town. So I did a little research and found out she was correct.
Here is a link to cut and paste. http://www.themainlandpress.com/
Also there, I found a link called the Leaguecityxfiles.com which is “Dedicated to transparency in government and putting citizens first and above special interests” Many thanks to that League City resident for reminding to put that informational link on the blog.

I understand Tommy "Cash Out" Cones had a little anger management problem last night.
I imagine he is pissed because another 3 years has gone by and he has not done anything about the traffic.

Time Is Up For ‘Old Ideas’ In League City

League City needs people on the council who will support our mayor and the views of the people who live here.

We need conservative leaders who have moral and ethical values. We don’t need more of the good-old-boy system.

That’s what we’ll get if we elect Pat Hallisey, Tommy Cones and Ed Station. We need Mike Lee, Mick Phalen and Phyllis Sanborn.

I thank Hallisey for his years of service to the city, but this is a different town and a different place from 20 years ago. It’s time to leave his service in the past.

I thank Cones for his interesting service. Voting for $390,000 to be spent on a dog track isn’t using my money wisely! His time is up.

I’m sorry that Station associates with these two candidates, but his time will never come.

End League City’s Small-Town Politics

As a resident of Glen Cove in League City, I will not be voting for Tommy Cones or any of his friends in the coming election.

I don’t know Cones, but I know he isn’t my friend.

He’s good to his friends, but to me and my friends in Glen Cove — people he doesn’t know — he’s been instrumental in taking our property from us and, when we started protesting, he and his friends have regularly belittled us as whining squatters and river rats.

The time for the good-old-boy, you-scratch-me-I’ll-scratch-you sort of small-town city politics is past.

If League City ever hopes to be something other than a bedroom community for Houston, full of badly thought-out housing and apartment developments, impossible traffic and overloaded infrastructures, it is time to start.

We now have a mayor who wants to do the best for all the residents, The least we can do is elect council members who feel the same.

Gonzalez ‘Problems’ Not Based On Facts

Each year, at election time, Tammy Gonzalez raises her head to point out problems. However, she never provides solutions to those problems.

Her letter “Time is up for ‘old ideas’ in League City” (The Daily News, March 24) about Councilman Tommy Cones, Pat Hallisey and Ed Station needs to be set straight.

Cones has been the true conservative on the city council and has fought against higher taxes, water-rate increases and more government spending. He passed a 10 percent property homestead tax exemption for the citizens.

Gonzalez should have also checked to see who co-sponsored a senior tax freeze and a $45,000 exemption for senior citizens. It was Cones.

Gonzalez said the new League City dog park cost $390,000 of taxpayers’ money. Wrong — developers paid for it.

Each time a developer builds on a residential lot, it pays $1,000 to the city for future parks. The true cost for the dog park was $190,000, which came from the Park Dedication Fund, not the taxpayers.

Hallisey has more experience and knowledge of the city than anyone I know. He would make a great councilman. Next time, Gonzales should check her facts before writing.

4-22-09:

Three Candidates For A Better League City

The election in League City is about open and honest government. The voters are demanding honesty, integrity and leadership. The campaign finance records of Mike Lee, Mick Phalen and Phyllis Sanborn clearly show they will represent all of League City, not just special interests.

They have not and will not take any political contributions from developers, homebuilders, contractors or homebuilders political action committees.

I can tell Tony Russo (“Gonzalez ‘problems’ not based on facts,” The Daily News, April 10) that the cost of the first phase of the dog park is $194,000 — what about the money for the second phase? He should see the council minutes from Oct. 28, 2008. His candidate has accepted contributions from the developer; that shows where his interest lies.

Tommy Cones is disrespectful to fellow council members when they disagree with him. Pat Hallisey has never been elected to a city position and was appointed mayor illegally.

Voters can check out www.leaguecityxfiles.com for all the documents to support their ethics.

last week TC was pandering to the italians by trying to get funding for the gharaldi house. Now it appears TC has switched party affiliation and trying to pander to the republicans. According to galveston paper (election 2009 election), tc is claiming to be a republican (yes, we all know this election is non-partisan). It's a know fact he's a D, so makes you wonder if he's getting desperate.

blog entry on April 6, 2009, is proof he's a D. But here's more proof from Dem. chair, Criss, june 2006:

"In the City elections in May the voters elected the mainstream type candidates and rejected those from the extreme right (who were put forth by the leadership of the Republican party). Some of the good people gaining office were Marc Hoskins, Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas, Danny Webber, and Jackie Cole in Galveston, Tommy Combs in League City and Laura Ewing in Friendswood. It appears the far-far right voters either stayed home or they voted more progressive. Based on the performance of their leaders from top to bottom, this group has a lot to be ashamed of. George W., Rick Perry and Co. have betrayed their trust."

Also go visit TC website and you will see pictures with TC posing with congressman Lampson, congressman Delay, LC councilmember Hembree, and chief Daniel. What's wrong with all these pictures? These people are no longer in office !

markie mark or jimmy, please tell your bud to update his website. He's embarassing himself.

Here are facts: Tommy Cones was with the Democrats at Peppers raising the Obama Flag with Neil Barron. He was introduced as a good Democrat Friend.
Hallisey was a deligate for Obama. See the email he sends to LLoyd Chriss stating his true ties to the Democrat Party.
Cones has given away millions of dollars to developers in perks, et..muds,tirzs,pids.
We would not be in the mess we are in if Tommy Cones would have had some discipline and looked at long term impacts instead of what was good for the developers. Why would anyone need a $5,000.00 contribution for a job that pays $600.00 per month?
If Tommy would have towed the line with developers we would not had even needed a water rate increase. And what about Traffic? If Tommy Cones was going to do something to correct the traffic situation, he would have done it in the past 7 years. Traffic has gotten worse on his watch. Why would you reelect someone that has not fixed anything. It is easy to vote for the people at election time. But the rest of the time Tommy has put us in a horrible predictament with his irresponsible actions.
It is time to give someone else a chance. Remember, Tommy was against all the ordinances that would have required tougher restraints and higher fees on developers.
