Tomorrow is Election Day in League City. You all know where I stand. I support Phyllis Sanborn, Mike Lee and Mick Phalen. I believe they will do what is best for our city and we, the people. Who are you supporting and why? If you did not vote early then you need to go and vote in the city and School Board elections. Exercise that right to vote. Support your candidate and get involved in the process.
The polling places for qualified and registered voters residing in the City of League City will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, May 9, 2009, and are as follows:

Marc, that's got to be the most self- conflicted post I've ever seen. Which is it that you want, unity or division? You call for one at the beginning and the other at the end of your post.
Of course it's blatantly silly to claim the Ca$H boys will bring unity to the city. They offer nothing but an arrogance that believes in their personal entitlement to political power which leads them to a path of knee-jerk contention with the mayor merely for the sake of asserting their own importance. A mayor who was elected in response to popular demand to clean up the sort of good ole boy insider politics that the Ca$H boys are desparatrly trying to preserve.
Vote for Mick, Mike, & Phyllis to complete the return of city hall to the citizens.

I understand the situation you are in. I respect your opinion. But my friend I must disagree. I have watched (with the rest of the voting public) the work of both Mr. Hallisey and Mr. Cones regarding their public record. It speaks for itself. We understand who profits from Mr. Cones being in office and it sure is not the average citizen. But you know that. Mr. Stations, well his contributions to Mr. Cones speak for itself. They cannot run from their actions and they cannot fool the people anymore. Actions speak louder than words. As for your "totalitarian municipal government", my friend you don’t even know what you are talking about. Scare tactics Marc? I think you need to get out of the kitchen because the heat is getting to you.
I have been trolling the blog for a while now; along with some other non-political citizens of League City. I have read some interesting things here! After some further research I have found some interesting drama within my fair city. My wife and I have been in League City for almost 8 years and we will be voting for the first time in the city elections. It is amazing that only about 6000 of the 67000 residents will decide who will be spending our tax dollars and making decision that affect our daily lives. I do not know any of you folks other than one frequent rabble rousing pirate radio operator. It would seem that all of you have a passion for our town! If anything this blog has made about a half dozen League City residents take notice of the politics of our community!
I'm with you, Mike White. I've lurked on this blog and previous ones for some time and have found them informative. The lack of public participation in elections is disheartening, but not surprising. It's fairly consistent with elections on all levels-- federal, state, local, and community. The few decide for the many.
As for the unity comments, I don't get the point. First, no one ever delivers on it, on any level of government. Second, I'm not sure I want unity on my city council or elsewhere. What's the point of having a bunch of people who all agree with each other representing us? As citizens, we don't all agree and we are certainly not unified. I would think our elected officials should be representative of those they represent.
No matter who votes for you, you are elected to represent and serve all of the citizens, not yourself and not your cronies.

Thank you for keeping an eye on League City Politics. I agree that we do not need everyone to think the same way on council. I also believe that no one should walk in with an agenda. I also believe actions speak louder than words. That is why I support Independent thinkers like Ms. Sanborn, Mr. Phalen and Mr. Lee for city council. They will do what is best for our citizens and for our city. NO ONE should have an advantage over anyone. Unfortunately that is what has happened over the past few years. The will of the people shall be heard.
Once again if the mayor gets her followers out tomorrow Phalen and Lee will be victorious, no matter how many yard signs TC puts in neighbors yards. Sanborn will win because she is an independent thinker who votes for the citizens. JN you have one last day with your blankie and passy sitting next to you.
Mike: The unusually small voter turnout here is largely the result of public disgust. For Johnnie Arolfo to reign as the first and only mayor, unchallenged for nineteen years, allowed him to become something of a tyrant and a bully. It also allowed cronyism to become entrenched.
Once we broke the near mayor-for-life trend, some but not all of that began to change. It's been a long road, but we've made more and better progress in the last few years than in all the previous ones. Let's not stop yet. I think I finally see a light at the end of that long tunnel. India tonight, or Novelli's?

You're not the only one who's been lurking but not saying anything here. Last night, a member of a high profile family called me over to talk about things said on this blog. They are also members of the same church that many of us and certain politicians attend. I chuckled that some seeming enemies on here belong to the same church. Of course, if you have no religious convictions to begin with, you can feel no shame in taking center stage at church, where your piety can be seen by so many.

Emails are flying around the city tonight. It appears the kitchen is way too hot for some as meltdown is occurring. After the election I will address a situation that occurred during the campaign that was truly hilarious. It is a conversation (with the spouse of a candidate) that was recorded because I forgot to turn off the recorder from a meeting I was conducting because our secretary was out. The Lord truly works in mysterious ways.

As some of you may have seen, the website was hijacked for a short time by someone (only one person knew the password other than me) who used my password to get into the administrators’ controls. The situation has been resolved and the person has been reported. While I found it slightly amusing it was a breach of trust that bothers me. But under extreme pressure some people make childish mistakes.
One last thought,
On Mr. Edelman’s profile he in part said “ I grab a cup of coffee prior to all the water passing through the filter ruining the integrity of the pot.” A very telling statement about how he manages his situations in life. I guess it’s me first with him and who cares about the rest. So sad.
I feel compelled to speak about allegations of Mayor Randalls’s inappropriate actions as reported by the biased and misleading GDN article about the mayor’s influence over P & Z members.
The basis of the article is Cones written allegations which are false. The GDN had the entire email string and chose only to report the allegations and not to consider the facts. Citizens intend to address this issue with GDN.
Cones had the facts and created a whopper of a lie to grab a headline a few days before the election. GDN had the facts and chose to ignore the truth and conceal the real story. As shown on the email group I contacted the P & Z members stating “Facts of the Deed” suggesting an investigation of the second questionable bridge property deed. This was done in advance of Mayor’s forwarding the Hagen/Smith email late Sunday afternoon (5/04/09) the day before the P & Z meeting.
Cones email claimed my input to the P & Z Commissioners was inappropriate, slanderous, and erroneous. Again, NOT the truth. Why do you think Scotto acted at the last minute to remove Glen Cove property from his Cypress Bay plat?
To Cones, Hallisey, JCLeague: I ask: Guys, why is it NEVER about the truth?
Finally, the entire email (with Cones allegations) has been posted on LeagueCityXfiles.com for all to see.
I look forward to the day when TRUTH and the CITIZENS are put first above special and self interests.

The numbers are piling up like sunken treasure today. While the pirate brotherhood has been quiet, we watch the count of those that bother to vote from the shores of Clear Creek.
Phalen, Lee & Sanborn are to be congratulated for jobs well done. Campaigns were run efficiently, effectively and with thoughful purpose about development interest in the future of our home port.
Voter turnout is low but should be high enough to bring smiles to those above. We look forward to the next council meeting when 2 new councilors will be seated who think independently. Their votes will represent the majority of people, not developers. :)
There is hope that the city's business will be done in the open by educated professionals. People, regardless of party affiliation, that are looking out for the best interest of our community.

Marc, The people are just tired of being poorly represented. The good old boys are now out for good. I have personally experienced threatening e-mails from Cones and Hallisey and decided the best way to fight back was at the ballot box with the help of all of my friends and co-workers. A sound spanking was exactly what they deserved. Good riddance!

Well, Marc, as nice as a guy and a pretty good computer geek, you had a little too much kool-aid on this one.
So the last three elections have seen incumbents booted, (with one notable exception, Phylllis). Maybe the nuts are waking up in this town and seeing the nuts for what they are...NUTS!
With Tommy gone, Scotto has no audience anymore, and basically the Glen Cove crew needs to push to have the bridge rebuilt.
I have to say there is a god, as once again Pat Hallisey was soundly defeated, wasting a ton of money in the process, but at least his expenditures did provide some economic stimulus to our local economy....(the Sign Shop & Fast Signs?). But something tells this nut that we haven't heard the last of Patty Boy!...like an addict looking for their next fix, he'll run again! Someone need to call A&E and get Patty on the next episode of "Intervention"
But the best part is now we have a couple of new councilmembers who don't have to suck the tit of the city to survive, and maybe the infighting will be contained, Chris (I don't know how I wrecked my city car at 2 am with my girlfriend in the car and got away with it)Reed will be shown the door, and probably be next appearing on "You Tube" in cage fighting matches, some compentent people can be hired to run our street and water department to work on a traffic plan to accomodate the city growth, and a water department that will find a way to reduce our rates so that we are not known as having the highest rates in Texas.
And best of all....Now we can have the City Open House, (which is a big waste of money anyway) and don't have to worry about fist fights or some candidate poisoning someones hot dogs.
At least voters paid attention this time!

Congrats to the winners! Mick, Mike and Phyllis worked hard, were in touch with the sentiments of our residents and deserved to win.

What a party, what a gathering of so many great folks, and if we did that inside LC, we would have surely gotten busted by the noise abatement department and maybe the no-firecrackers and no-smoking departments too. Blue-nose busy bodies. I hope our new guys in city hall will take a look at getting rid of some of that bureau-rat baggage.
City Nuts' post is jammed full of ideas worth talking about. I have the perfect idea for Hallisey's next perrenial campaign. He needs to team-up with Lyndon LaRouche, who has also been running and losing for decades. They'd be a natural. Their motto can be, "You know we'll ALWAYS be back."
If I may extend an olive branch, I say to the survivors (both on and off the ballot) of this election, that you CAN repent, put down the cool aid and read the tea leaves, and get right with the people. We sent the agitators packing, so the rest of us can all move forward now, okay?
After piling all that dirt up in our right-of-way, Nicky has an opportunity now to pitch in and help rebuild the GC bridge at a higher elevation, so bigger boats can get through. With no crooked politicians to finance now, there ought to be some money freed up and burning a hole in his pocket now, right?
Evil forces at CCISD loaded their ballot with a bunch of decoy candidates, detoured a lot of voters to wrong polling places, then gave them convoluted directions to the right places. All of it ensured Pond a rigged seat.
Forget wiretapping charges against Chris Mallios. I can give you something even better. I have, locked away in a vault, a photo (and a witness) of him yanking down campaign signs in broad daylight. Well, never mind if the polls had already closed; don't try to ruin my good story. If some fat cat developer wants to throw some money my way, I will consider parting with this juicy piece of evidence. Film at eleven.
